About BWRT®

BWRT® (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy) is a practical way of working with automatic stress responses, triggers, and repeating patterns.

You don’t need to go into every detail of your past.

The work focuses on how your mind responds now, and helps you change that response in a contained, structured way.

BWRT therapy explained

What is BWRT®?

BWRT® is designed for reactions that feel instant, strong, and hard to control.

Instead of spending months analysing why something started, BWRT® looks at what happens inside you now. When a trigger shows up, your brain and body respond quickly. BWRT® helps interrupt that chain so the response can change.

People often describe BWRT® sessions as:

  • Clear and structured
  • Focused on what needs to change
  • Contained and respectful
  • Practical and to the point

How BWRT® is different

BWRT® is not traditional talking therapy, and it isn’t hypnosis.

No need to relive painful events

You won’t be asked to retell traumatic experiences in detail. The work stays contained and focused.

Works with automatic responses

BWRT® is used for reactions that happen fast, before you’ve had time to think your way through them.

A clear process

Sessions follow a step-by-step structure so you know what’s happening and why.

Less talking, more change

You don’t need to explain everything in full for the work to be effective.

Practical outcomes

The aim is a calmer response, clearer thinking, and fewer “stuck” loops in day-to-day life.

Consent-led

You stay in control throughout. The work is paced to you.

The BWRT® Creed

Registered BWRT® Practitioners adhere rigidly to this creed and will seek professional guidance from senior BWRT® Mentors where they deem it to be advisable or necessary.

The BWRT® ethos is that the wellbeing of the client is paramount and therefore the BWRT® Practitioner will ensure a constancy of demeanour and diligent application of their skills in the pursuit of that wellbeing.

The BWRT® Practitioner knows that nobody can control what they think or how they feel, only their response to such thoughts or feelings, and is therefore non-judgemental. They will apply their skills appropriately and without criticism to relieve distress and foster wellbeing.

Everybody has thoughts and feelings they prefer to keep to themselves and the BWRT® Practitioner will not insist they be divulged. On very rare occasions, it is beneficial to explore such thoughts and feelings, but the Practitioner will make every effort to avoid that need.

What a BWRT® session is like

Sessions are calm and focused.

We start by identifying the pattern you want to change and what you want instead. Then the BWRT® process is used to help your brain respond differently when that trigger appears.

People often say they feel clearer or more settled afterwards.
